Lovingly parodying the story that had audiences swooning, blushing, and caring about hockey for the first time, this affectionate, outrageous send-up comes from Quick and Funny Musicals, the cult Upright Citizens Brigade LA creators known for turning pop culture obsessions into chaotic comedy musicals. Fringe 2026
Heated Rivalry will travel to the Edinburgh Fringe this August for a one-month run at the Gilded Balloon. More details to come, but yes, this gay hockey musical parody is going international!
Quick & Funny Musicals
Quick & Funny Musicals, a longtime Upright Citizens Brigade mainstay, has been writing and performing original and parody comedy musicals for more than 15 years. The company is built around making ambitious, ridiculous shows quickly and putting them in front of an audience before anyone can talk them out of it.
Its alumni include Rachel Bloom, creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; comedy choreographer Kat Burns; Chris Grace of Superstore; and a long list of Broadway performers, television actors, and film and TV comedy writers. The team writes the book, songs, and staging for each show in a single month, building a repertoire of musical comedies that are scrappy by design and proudly overcommitted in execution.
Come for the rivalry. Stay for the subtext becoming text.
